TURK 101 Turkish Language
World language groups, the position of Turkish among world languages, areas where Turkish is spoken, punctuation, spelling rules, petition writing, phonetic features of Turkish, phonological processes in Turkish, written expression, memoir writing.
YDBI 101 Foreign Language
This course focuses primarily on grammar, writing and pronunciation rules, as well as vocabulary development.
TDP 101 Social Responsibility Project
Developing social benefit through project-based activities.
AGME 101 General and Professional Ethics
The concept of ethics, morality and ethics, ethical rules and systems, the relationship between ethics and society, acting in accordance with ethical values and their consequences, professional ethics, and establishing an ethical environment in the workplace.
AVS 101 Genetics
Structure and properties of nucleic acids, mass, base composition and sequence of genetic material, form and organization of genetic material, organization in viruses and viroids, prokaryotes and eukaryotes, enzymes involved in nucleic acid metabolism, DNA replication in prokaryotes and eukaryotes, replication mechanisms in viruses and viroids, repair systems, gene expression, transcription and translation, genetic code.
AVS 103 Anatomy
Introduction to anatomy and basic terminology, mammalian anatomy, digestive system, respiratory system, circulatory system, reproductive physiology, endocrine system, nervous system, excretory system.
AVS 105 General Chemistry
Provides a fundamental chemistry background. Teaches writing chemical reactions and determining reaction stoichiometry, explains atomic structure and properties, introduces periodic properties and use of the periodic table, covers chemical bonds and their types, teaches preparation and types of solutions
AVS 107 General Microbiology
Understanding microorganisms and microbiology, anatomical and chemical structures of bacteria, reproduction, anaerobiosis, enzymes and metabolism, genetic characteristics and variations in bacteria, genetic material transfer, bacteriophages, general mycology, cultivation of microorganisms, fungi (yeasts and molds), viruses, protozoa and viroids.
AVS 109 Laboratory Techniques I
Basic laboratory concepts, safety and hygiene, laboratory equipment, fundamental analysis methods, quality and control, automation and information systems, biological sample collection and storage conditions, and sources of error in analysis.

TURK 102 Turkish Language
Stress in Turkish (word stress), stress in Turkish (phrase and sentence stress), word structure (roots and suffixes, inflectional suffixes), word structure (stems and derivational suffixes), sentence structure (sentence elements), sentence types and correct sentence formation, modes and techniques of expression, expression disorders (semantic and structural), criticism, self-criticism, conversation (dialogue), essays and other text types, writing practice.
TDP 102 Social Responsibility Project

AVS 104 Physiology
Introduction to physiology, cell physiology and body fluids, blood physiology and circulation, digestive, nervous, muscular, respiratory, excretory and endocrine systems, reproductive physiology, body and environmental temperature relationships, sense organs.
AVS 106 Clinical Biochemistry
Biophysical chemistry and water, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids, enzymes, minerals, vitamins and hormones, instruments and methods used in biochemistry, blood and urine analysis.
AVS 108 Epidemic and Zoonotic Diseases
Identifying causes of diseases, recognizing zoonotic diseases by system, understanding transmission routes of infectious diseases, identifying diseases transmitted from animals to humans, and learning preventive measures against zoonotic and epidemic diseases.
AVS 110 Basic Animal Science
Providing practical knowledge on cattle, sheep, goat, poultry and beekeeping; production systems, housing systems, productivity, nutrition, marketing, and economic structures.
AVS 112 Occupational Health and Safety
Understanding the fundamental concepts of occupational health and safety and their applications in the field.
MUP 100 Professional Practice Project
Final-year students prepare a feasibility study and project for establishing a livestock enterprise under the supervision of a faculty member and present it as a report.
KRY 100 Career Planning
The course aims to introduce contemporary career planning methods aligned with real-life problems in rapidly changing economic, social, cultural, ethical, and legal conditions, and to develop students’ ability to apply them. It is a decision-making and problem-solving process that aligns individual values and needs with job experiences and opportunities, enhancing satisfaction and productivity.
AİİT 201 Atatürk’s Principles and History of Reforms
The arrival of Turks in Anatolia and related policies, the Crusades and their outcomes, colonial discoveries, the Renaissance and Reformation, the French Revolution, political movements in the Ottoman Empire, and imperial ambitions over the Ottoman state.
AVS 201 Cattle Breeding and Health
The status of cattle farming nationally and globally, production systems, reproduction and milk production fundamentals, breeding and record keeping, management practices, and herd health.
AVS 203 Pet Animal Health and Care
History of pet breeding and nutrition, role of companion animals, anatomy and physiology of reproductive and digestive systems, cat and dog breeds, care of young animals, housing, health protection, nutritional requirements, commercial feeds, feeding differences, diet formulation, and animal welfare.
AVS 207 Basic Feed Science and Animal Nutrition
Feed science, nutrients in feeds and their metabolism according to animal species, classification of feeds, feed analysis, and basic principles of cattle, sheep, goat and poultry nutrition.
AVS 209 Basic Veterinary Pathology
General pathology, causes of diseases, cellular and tissue injuries, metabolic disorders, immunopathology, inflammation, healing and repair, genetic diseases and anomalies, tumors.
AVS 211 Histology and Embryology
Basic concepts of histology and introduction to the units, tissues and systems that constitute living organisms.
AVS 215 Hygiene and Sanitation
Ability to wear work clothes in accordance with workplace standards, apply personal hygiene rules, implement sanitation practices in toilets and handwashing areas in accordance with regulations, carry out periodic health checks as required by regulations, apply sanitation rules at workplace entrances and exits, and understand cleaning materials, cleaning and disinfection in food enterprises.
AİİT 201 Atatürk’s Principles and History of Reforms
This course examines the experience of the Turkish Revolution, which developed in parallel with the foundation of the Republic of Türkiye and has sui generis characteristics within the system of values defining the modern nation-state. It addresses the transformation of Turkish society to the level of contemporary nation-states through a chronological framework including the classical and post-classical periods of the Turkish imperial past, the late 18th and 19th centuries, the 1908 Revolution, the periods of 1914–1918, 1918–1922 and 1923–1960. It also evaluates the restructuring of the modern Turkish nation-state, the stages of transformation in Turkish political and social systems, and the analysis of political, social, economic and cultural changes together with domestic and foreign political developments, actors, ideas and activities.
AVS 202 Poultry Breeding and Health
Introduction to poultry nutrition, nutrients, feed ingredients, compound feeds for chickens, feeding and management of chicks and pullets, feeding and management of commercial laying hens, feeding and management of breeding poultry, feeding and management of broilers, metabolic diseases, and general information on other poultry species.
AVS 204 Small Ruminant Breeding and Health
Basic knowledge of sheep and goat care, feeding and breeding; understanding appropriate nutrition practices during milk production and determining suitable feeding programs for small ruminants.
AVS 206 Obstetrics and Artificial Insemination
Reproductive organs, sexual cycle and hormonal mechanisms, optimal insemination time, semen collection, preservation and artificial insemination, animal breeding, breeding and selection methods, and gene manipulation. Introduction to reproductive organs, physiology and endocrine mechanisms of pregnancy and parturition, diagnosis of pregnancy, examination before obstetrical intervention, parturition, dystocia and its management, pathological conditions encountered during pregnancy, and general information on udder diseases and their importance in dairy cattle breeding.
AVS 208 Basic Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology
Introduction to pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, chemotherapeutics, drug residues in foods, toxicology, types and effects of poisoning, dose–response relationships, pesticides and environmental toxicology.
AVS 212 Basic Veterinary Parasitology
Introduction to parasitology, general characteristics of parasites, host–parasite relationships, transmission routes of parasites and zoonoses, diagnostic methods for parasites, parasite distribution and prevention.
AVS 010 Vaccination Knowledge and Practices (2+0)
General vaccination knowledge, types of vaccines, vaccine production and administration methods, mechanism of action of vaccines, vaccination practices against viral, bacterial and parasitic diseases, and vaccines used in cattle, small ruminants, poultry and pet animals.
AVS 011 Livestock Economics (2+0)
Scope of livestock economics, macroeconomic issues, supply–demand and price mechanisms, marketing and organization, and livestock policies in Türkiye.
AVS 012 Animal Housing (2+0)
Laws, regulations and arrangements related to animal housing; general environmental effects and appropriate environmental requirements for farm animals; planning of dairy and beef cattle barns; planning of sheep and goat barns; planning of poultry houses and hatcheries.
AVS 013 Biosecurity and Environmental Health (2+0)
Biosecurity problems, biosecurity and biotechnological applications, laboratory biosecurity rules, waste management, record keeping, national and international regulations, and environmental health.
AVS 014 Milking and Milking Techniques (1+1)
Introduction to milking techniques. Understanding milk composition and quality, milk formation and release, stages of the milking process, and practices required to improve milk quality.
AVS 015 First Aid
General principles of first aid in animals, preparation of a first aid kit, first aid for bites, crushing injuries, traffic accidents, falls, poisonings, frostbite, electric shocks, burns and drowning, and emergency intervention.
AVS 016 Small Ruminant Breeding and Health (2+0)
Characteristics of sheep and goat breeding, classification and breeds of sheep and goats, reproduction and breeding practices, housing, milking and shearing, genetic improvement and hereditary defects.
AVS 017 Animal Behaviour and Welfare (2+0)
Definition of behaviour and basic behavioural processes. Hormones and pheromones regulating behaviour in animals. Feeding, reproductive and social behaviours in domestic animals. Behavioural problems in domestic animals. Basic concepts of animal welfare. Assessment of welfare in farm animals. Welfare in cattle, sheep, horses, pigs and poultry farming.
AVS 019 Laboratory Animal Breeding and Health
Biological characteristics and reproductive physiology of laboratory animals, practices on laboratory animals including injection, blood collection, euthanasia and necropsy, and ethical rules in laboratory animal use.
AVS 021 Beekeeping and Bee Health
Ability to apply beekeeping and honey production techniques, support the contribution of bees to pollination, produce organic bee products, and increase the effectiveness of beekeeping in organic agriculture.
